SPARC Europe white paper on Open Access publishing in the social sciences

Monday, December 8, 2014

A recent white paper, Open Access in the Social Sciences, has been published by SPARC Europe discussing Open Access publishing as it relates to the social sciences. In addition to providing access to research to users of scholarly work, Open Access benefits the authors by increasing the dissemination and impact of their publications. SPARC explains the different types of Open Access and publishing options for researchers, and gives examples of Open Access subject-based collections in the social sciences and related fields. They also discuss the publishing of books and monographs, a more recent development in the Open Access movement.
